Earlier this week, Fireshine CEO Garry spoke to GamesIndustry.biz about the challenges associated with releasing physical titles on Nintendo Switch, and the opportunities available to those who successfully navigate the tough retail model.
The opportunities are there…
Speaking in the article, Garry explained that “the opportunities are there” for publishers who choose to release physically on Nintendo hardware – as long as the title works for the platform.
“The boxed retail model is a tough model on Switch so you need to feel pretty certain your title works before entering the market,” Garry said. “Luckily for us, the Team17 Switch releases are tried, tested and proven on the Nintendo decks. Overcooked, for example, is a double BAFTA-winning title and already successful on the Nintendo format.”
As well as Overcooked! Special Edition (launching physically on Nintendo Switch on February 13!), Fireshine has also partnered with Team17 to launch Worms W.M.D and Yoku’s Island Express at physical retail in 2018.
